Rods come in all different guises, from your 12ft/13ft long range rods down to 6ft stalking rods and everything in-between, whilst your standard 12ft carp rod will suit most types of angling and can be used in virtually any situation this doesn’t mean they are necessarily the optimum tool for every fishing scenario, for example if you were to liken fishing rods to motor racing of course your family hatch back could drive round a race track but it wouldn’t perform as well as a designated race car, the principle is the same with fishing whilst you can use a 12ft rod in a stalking situation a 10ft rod would be easier to use and make the overall experience more enjoyable therefore more effective.
Wychwood have an extensive range of rods to suit all styles and angling ability’s.
The riot range lend themselves perfectly to junior anglers or people new to the sport with rods ranging from 10ft telescopic rods for small pack downsize and ease of mobility through to 12ft 3.5tc rods for larger waters and for those who are fishing longer ranges. While the price point maybe low they punch well above their weight in terms of performance and many of our team anglers still opt to use the riot range over in Europe for boat fishing and a like.
The extremis range are what we would class as an all-rounder range of rods whilst they may not be the perfect rod for one single situation, they are designed to be a balanced rod for all situations.
The epic range are Wychwood’s flagship rods with high modulus carbon blanks and American tackle guides no corners have been cut in the pursuit of performance and these rods will put a baited rig as far as you can cast it whilst maintaining a beautiful playing action.
Testimonial from team member matt Poulton
For 99% of my uk angling the epic 12ft 3.25 are my go to range of rods suiting almost all my angling situations from fishing a couple of raps out to extreme ranges in excess of 130 yards, however I find my self often stalking carp in the edge in small nooks and cranny’s, sometimes in virtually inaccessible location’s where a 12ft rod simply won’t cut the mustard I then turn to my 10ft extractor plus rods offering the perfect balance of strength length and portability.
When heading over the pond into Europe be that fishing giant public waters from a boat or small canals, I look no further than the riot 10ft rods with nice soft tips but very powerful but sections they lend themselves to the more savage conditions you find over in Europe.
All in all there is a rod in the Wychwood range for every situation and while it is not essential to have multiple sets of rods for different scenarios it can be the determining factor when fishing in tricky circumstances and could be the difference between catching that target fish and not.
